Prospective students from across the region have been registering their interest in attending next month’s Open Days for the new University Technical College Cambridge.
The college, which will specialise in teaching biomedical and environmental science and technology to 14 to 19 year-olds, will open in September 2014, taking students at Year 10 and Year 12.
The first Open Days take place on Friday, 22 November and Saturday, 23 November, offering a great chance for visitors to meet acting principal Melanie Radford and talk to the leading employers who are backing the UTC.
Hands-on science activities will also be on offer at the Open Days, which take place at the Deakin Centre at Addenbrooke’s Hospital while work is underway on the new £10 million state-of the-art building in Robinson Way, Cambridge.
Students living within a 25-mile radius of Cambridge will be able to attend the UTC, and visitors from all over the region have pre-registered, including from St Neots, Royston, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Saffron Walden and St Ives.
Cambridge Regional College and Cambridge University Health Partners are the lead sponsors of the new UTC, which is backed by major employers including Cambridgeshire County Council, Napp Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Research Council.
