Public consultation starts for UTC Cambridge

Plans for the new UTC Cambridge will go on show as part of a public consultation period which begins on Monday, 4 February.

Plans for the new UTC Cambridge will go on show as part of a public consultation period which begins on Monday, 4 February.

Members of the public will be able to find out more about the innovative college for 14 to 19 year-olds - due to open in September 2014 - at a series of road shows across the region.

And they will be invited to have their say, with questionnaires available at the events over the next few weeks, and online at www.utccambridge.co.uk.

The new UTC, which will specialise in teaching biomedical and environmental science and technology – addressing a key specialist skills need in Cambridgeshire - will eventually be home to 670 students.

It is expected to be based in a £10 million three-storey, purpose-designed building in Robinson Way, on land owned by Long Road Sixth Form College.

Pre-planning discussions have already taken place with Cambridge City Council and a full planning application is due to go before Councillors in April.
