The UTC Cambridge's lead sponsor, Cambridge Regional College, has been recognised by the Cambridge News as one of the top 125 influential businesses in the region.
Also among the top businesses were UTC partners the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Cambridge Cleantech and Addenbrooke’s Hospital - announced in a ceremony at St Catharine’s College last night, attended by the region’s major businesses.
Paul Brackley, Editor of the News, said: “The Cambridge region is packed with exciting, innovative and successful companies and our list of the most influential 125 gives some indication of what a powerhouse it is for the wider UK economy.
“We are lucky to live and work in an area with such a wealth of talent and energy – and the Cambridge News is proud to celebrate that with this project.”
The paper invited nominations from a wide area as part of a campaign to recognise local companies and organisations that have shaped the region’s economy. A panel of five judges selected the top 125 most influential businesses over the last 125 years.
CRC Principal Anne Constantine said it was excellent news that the college had been recognised for its important role in the region.
“I am delighted that the Cambridge News has selected Cambridge Regional College as one of the 125 most influential businesses in the Cambridge area,” she said.
CRC has grown to become one of the most successful Further Education colleges in the country with 10,000 UK students, 3,500 apprentices, 1,000 international students, 700 staff and 2,000 employer clients. It is the lead sponsor of the UTC Cambridge alongside Cambridge University Health Partners.
