Three talented teachers have been appointed to the new leadership team of UTC Cambridge – a key moment for the specialist science college, which opens in September.
Deputy Principal Simon Warburton, Assistant Principal Danielle Pacey and Head of Science Alistair Easterfield officially take up their roles at the start of the academic year, but are already playing their part in shaping the curriculum.
Melanie Radford, UTC Principal, said the three new members of the leadership team would play a vital role in the development of the UTC.
“I’m delighted that three such talented individuals have been appointed and I look forward to working with them. They will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the UTC and ensuring its status as a centre of excellence,” she said.
They will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the UTC and ensuring its status as a centre of excellence,” she said.
The college, sponsored by Cambridge University Health Partners and Cambridge Regional College, is currently taking student applications and will specialise in teaching biomedical and environmental science and technology to 14 to 19 year-olds.
Partnered by world-leading organisations, including Napp Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Research Council, the UTC will teach GCSEs, A levels and vocational qualifications, alongside industry-led Challenge Projects.
Simon, currently deputy head at Hitchin Boys’ School, has more than seven years’ experience of school leadership, focused mainly on curriculum design, timetabling, assessment, reporting and teaching and learning.
He said the UTC Cambridge would provide a wonderful opportunity for young science enthusiasts.
“The combination of superb facilities and the extensive work with the very employers our students will be seeking to impress means that UTC Cambridge will provide an outstanding education for 14-19 year olds,” he said.
Danielle and Alistair are both moving to the UTC from Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade.
