Medimmune
11 May 2016
Over the past term year 10 students have spent one day a week in the company of MedImmune’s scientists and learning about many aspects of drug development, iincluding how they are researched, manufactured, taken through clinical trials and regulated. As part of the project, they had opportunities to see MedImmune’s state-of-the-art laboratories at Granta Park, south of Cambridge.
The Challenge Project ended with each student preparing a 10-15 minute video or presentation to answer the specific challenge question posed, sharing this with their classmates and UTC Cambridge staff. A final, prize-giving ceremony was held at the end of April, at which the students who had created the six best presentations shared their work with an invited audience of MedImmune’s senior scientists who then selected an overall winner to receive the ‘2016 Challenge Project’ trophy.
Congratulations to Ariana, James, Freya, Sumie and Nelle for making it through to a very highly contested final and particularly to Ghazal for winning the trophy. Also a huge thank you to MedImmune for running the project and providing prizes for all the winners. All students who completed the project qualified for the New Economics Foundation’s (NEF) certificate of Innovation, enterprise and employability, so well done to them also. Jacqui Hall, MedImmunes Vice President for Learning Standards and Insights commented on how impressed she had been by the students commitment, engagement and presentation.
