The First Prom at UTC Cambridge

09 July 2016

For the students who have just completed their GCSE exams, the Prom celebrations had especially significant meaning.  This small group of students were the very first to join UTC Cambridge, brave pioneers who joined the new academy even before the hi-tech building was complete!

The cohort of around fifty students have worked extremely hard and helped to define an innovative GCSE curriculum for future generations and to establish strong relationships with leading employers in the County through project work. The staff at UTCC appreciate their hard work and input and the students took the opportunity to deliver some well-earned praise to their peers.

They chose to theme their Prom on an Awards Ceremony and decorated the lecture theatre appropriately, utilising four scaffolding towers, 100 meters of ribbon and 3000 fairy lights to create the setting for the forty-one awards.

A resounding cheer was heard half-way across Cambridge when the “Most Likely to Win a Nobel Prize” award was presented to Paul Wylie!

"After being at UTC for two years and planning to stay at UTC for A levels I am delighted that the prom was a stunning evening. Lots of fun, dancing and laughter were shared, a moment to remember for the rest of all our lives. An amazing way to end a fulfilled year!"  said Emma, Year 11.

Well done all - glad you enjoyed the party!
