UTCC students delighted that Airlander is off the ground

Airlander, the world's biggest aircraft, wowed crowds as it took its maiden flight. Students at UTCC who had been lucky enough to share its path to development were among those celebrating. As part of the Challenge programme at UTCC, students worked with the team at Huntingdon, learning the science and processes that led from concept to actuality. The world's largest aircraft, kitted out with components made in Huntingdon, took to the skies above the region on its maiden voyage yesterday. The 302ft-long (92-metre) Airlander 10 - part plane, part helicopter, part airship - loomed overhead at Cardington airfield in Bedfordshire as the sun started to set on Wednesday evening.
