A day in the life
Emily is studying for GCSEs
8:20 am. Bump into Sara and Rachel and head to The Strand to grab a slice of toast before going to my locker to put my bag and coat away.
8:30am. Go to form time - check my schedule for the rest of the day and register.
8:40am. Geography. We are learning about river flows - there is something called an Ox-bow lake which is formed when the neck of the meander becomes thin and eventually cuts off the curve of the meander producing a circle - I really like this feature but haven't yet seen one in real life.
9.35 am. Go to Computer Science which is in 107 (a computer lab). We are studying network topology which doesn't sound riveting but is actually really cool and we acted out bus, token ring and star networks which was a really good way to get the processes clear in my head. I was a small information package and was buffeted so effectively through the network that I fell over!
10.30 Break. Meet up with friends at The Strand and grab my Spanish text book.
10.45 Spanish. I'm looking forward to our trip to Barcelona and am working hard on my vocabulary. This lesson is looking at vocab for household items - like furniture and we are identifying nouns and then finding complementary adjectives.
11:40 Double Science. Biology which is taking place in the Biology lab on the first floor. We are examining the central nervous system, synapses and how they work to continue an electrical impulse through the body.Tomorrow we are going to look at Pavlov's Dog which is apparently an example of how a stimulus can create an unrelated effect after time.
13:30 Lunchtime. Great - there is a veggie curry so I am getting in there double quick! Agreed to meet some friends for a football kick-about and so head out to The Plaza.
14:25 Form time. A bit late back in as I needed to collect my laptop and left it to the last minute which isn't a good idea as you do have to be present to register and being late isn't treated lightly. Oops!
14:40 English.Reading through Chapter IV of "Of Mice and Men" - beginning to understand Curly's wife and the plot is coming together but it's clear that all these odd relationships are becoming dangerously entangled. Loving the book and there is talk of us going to the theatre to see it soon.
15:30 Maths.Trigonometry. Sohcahtoa ... that's basically all you need to know to work out all the angles.Must remember that and save my notes down on Onenote in case I forget. I enjoyed that lesson - it was like magic once you know which formula to apply.
16:30 It's the end of the day.Just time to chat with a couple of friends about our Challenge Project. We are putting together a presentation for Thursday so hoping we have all done the bits we said we would! I'm going to an art club tonight so glad we don't have home work.Collect my bike and head off home. Bye.
