passport to success

UTC learners will be supported in developing personal qualities and leadership skills essential for the world of work, with plenty of opportunities to demonstrate leadership, initiative, determination, confidence and responsibility - all recorded in their UTC Cambridge Passport to Success.

UTC Cambridge Passport to Success

The UTC, in collaboration with sponsors, will develop a “Passport to Success” that goes beyond qualifications and clearly identifies the most important skills, behaviours and attitudes that will lead to successful progression and employment. Learners will be encouraged and supported to achieve these standards throughout their time at the UTC.

Employers will endorse these Passports to Success, thus confirming that the learner has met their preferred employee threshold and adding their company logo to the final document.

Skilled

The UTC will provide opportunities for learners to:

  • be inspired to achieve outstanding skill levels and to become world class
  • have their skills recognised through appropriate qualifications valued by HE and employers
  • develop a good understanding of their chosen curriculum pathway
  • understand and value the importance of STEM subjects in their chosen career, and further develop these skills.

Confident

As well as achieving highly valued vocational skills and qualifications, the UTC will inspire learners to:

  • display high levels of professional standards in their chosen curriculum pathway
  • realise the importance and value of their aspirations, contributions and creativity, and their importance in the world of work
  • value teamwork, learning to be effective as both a team leader and team player, and being flexible and adaptable in both roles
  • be an innovative self-starter who takes responsibility and communicates their ideas clearly.

Enterprising

To ensure learners adaptability in a rapidly changing world, the UTC will help learners to:

  • develop their entrepreneurial skills, learning to identify and maximise opportunities
  • learn about the business, cultural and social implications of the global economy
  • learn to be resilient, positive and confident when faced with change
  • become confident in solving problems and identifying when they need to further develop their skills in order to realise their aspirations.
