A day in the life
Jack is studying for BTEC
8:15 Arrive in time to get tea and toast from The Strand, our cafeteria. It’s my first opportunity to interact with friends and staff and hopefully catch up with Hannah who is my partner on a presentation project.
8:30 Tutor time - an opportunity to catch up with friends from other years and courses and be updated on the events and activities happening that day at UTCC.
8:40 Lessons start and it is BTEC Applied Science. In this lesson we are completing part of a Physics unit. Our task is to write a report based on last week’s research into the use of nuclear physics in medicine.
10:45 After having a quick panini at break time in The Strand, it’s off to Chemistry, which is also part of my BTEC course. Today we are undertaking an experiment to purify aspirin and compare our methods to others’ by evaluating our results.
11:40 Private study – time to complete my write-up task from Physics (glad to be able to do this at college as I have football training tonight). Barry is here (my Physics tutor) so I can just check a few things with him. Can now pop to Revision as I want to look at a past paper for AS Level Maths which I take next month.
13:30 Lunchtime. Fish and chip Friday - yay! Catch up with friends while watching some of the others practice tackling skills on the astro. Afterwards, still time to join Coding Club for a while.
14:25 Tutor time -this is basically time to raise any queries with your tutor or 15 minutes to sit down and read.
14:40 EPQ project. I'm working on my project presentation. It’s great to have conversations that help you to explore ideas outside of the obvious. Overall feeling good about both my project and our prezi.
4:30 Time to head home. Will go to training and then may just check a few things on the network for tomorrow.
A Good Day!
