Curriculum
AT UTCC we offer an exciting, broad based curriculum at both Key Stage 4 and 5. The integrated and practical nature of the UTC curriculum shows students exactly where their learning can take them.
They have the opportunity to gain Level 2 technical qualifications which are equivalent to GCSEs as well as traditonal GCSEs. This makes for a more innovative style of learning, gives them a head start and they are better prepared for the rigours of higher-level qualifications.
Young people join us to study GCSEs at age 14, or to study A levels or BTEC at age 16. We offer our students a unique opportunity to achieve traditional qualifications whilst also getting a head start in developing the skills required for exciting and rewarding careers in the twenty-first century. Students can progress through these critical learning years, spending four years in the specialist college environment from age 16 or joining us at sixth-form entry stage.
Combining Academic study with real-world experience.
At UTC Cambridge, students work on ‘Challenge Projects’. These are industry based projects alongside the national curriculum for GCSEs, A levels and BTEC studies. This provides amazing opportunities to put studies into practice and to develop presentation, team leading and problem solving skills.
‘Delivering Future Scientists’ is at the heart of everything we do.
Whether you want to be a doctor, a programmer, a physicist, a lab technician, a researcher or a technical author, UTCC offers the support and education to achieve your ambitions. There are many different avenues available to our students and it is important that we keep the career options open so that as our students gain experience they can consider new and exciting employment paths.
Our GCSE curriculum has a strong emphasis on Maths and English, which complements science and technical subjects. GCSE students also study Geography and Spanish to ensure a balanced education. BTEC and A level students likewise indulge their STEM interests but benefit from many opportunities and study path options to ensure they are equipped to succeed in the future they dream of. At A level we expect our students to take at least two core Science subjects but these can be combined with English, Psychology, Economics or other subjects to suit each student’s ambitions. At UTCC students are able to study four A Levels if they are academically capable and to combine a BTEC course with an A Level if they choose to.
Welcome to UTC Cambridge – a little bit different – a lot more opportunity.
