Student life
Studying at UTCC is quite different from many schools and colleges. Students and staff call each other by their first names and there is a comfortable informality. This is only possible because of the common ethos at the college.
The expectation is that students demonstrate respect for their peers, tutors, visitors and the college facilities and that they commit to working hard on all aspects of study.
The campus is light, roomy and very modern with excellent facilities and equipment - do please come and have a look if you are thinking of studying at UTCC.
Breakfast, snacks and lunch are available in the cafe and there are many other spaces allocated for socialising and for private study.
The college is highly dependent on digital technology and computer banks, laptops and ipads are available for use on site and most students also use their own hand-held devices to access the intranet, and to review and store work.
At UTCC the day starts officially at 8.30. Between 8.30 and 4.30 all students are expected to stay on site. Whether you are studying for GCSEs, BTEC or A Levels you have access to the same facilities at UTCC and although your lessons will be course specific, tutor time includes students from across all four study years.
The uniform is grey / black business dress. Working with so many local businesses, technical and university partners we made the decision that dress and general standards of behaviour should mimic the workplace.
To find out more do please come and meet us and have a look at UTCC in action.
